Pity the hiker who hasn’t strayed from the neighboring Presidential Range and White Mountains to experience the Mahoosuc Range. Even in western Maine the Mahoosucs are often overshadowed by the Saddleback and Bigelow ranges, but for those who have ventured into Mahoosuc Notch, a boulder filled gorge often considered the most difficult mile on the Appalachian Trail, or sweated out a climb up Old Speck or Goose Eye, the trails listed here aren’t soon forgotten.
